Welcome to our website!
We have just moved our website from the free space, where it all started back in the last century (actually 1999!), to a much bigger host. We can now offer our visitors much more! On the face of it, not much is different: we have the same address (otherwise you wouldnt be reading this!) and a lot of the information is the same. However, you will now be able to access more back-issues of The Messenger and, a brand new feature for our website, Listen Again - click the link to the Middle Wall iPlaver and you will be able to listen again to previous Sunday Services - really useful if you want to hear that new hymn again, or check up on that bible reading which you didnt make a note of, or simply listen to the whole service which you missed because you werent able to attend in person!
You can listen here or download the file to your iPod (other music players are available!) and listen on your way to work or school, in your lunch break, on the beach - anywhere you like!
Contact me if you have any problems.
Use the links on the left of the screen to access more information about us and what we do. Here you will find details of our services and other weekly activities and special events.
We try to keep the site up to date and the Church Diary is now available on-line, as is the weekly Notice Sheet
Did you miss our 140th Anniversary Celebrations last year? I hope not! We had a splendid weekend: people came from far and wide - more than 70 people signed our Visitors Book when they visited our Open Day and exhibition of photographs and memorabilia over the weekend, more than 100 sat down to a traditional Baptist Tea on Saturday afternoon, and the congregations at both our Sunday services were doubled! Truly a great occasion! Thank you to everyone who helped to make it happen and to all those who were able to visit us.
To coincide with this Anniversary we have produced a new history book (can you have new history?) which charts the ups and downs of our church over those 140 years. It contains the complete text of the two booklets produced for our earlier anniversaries - the 75th (1944) and 100th (1969), and some previously unpublished articles from earlier ministers and members. The final section covers the forty years since 1969 and brings it right up to date. It costs £5.00 and you can order your own copy on-line here.
Incidentally, to coincide with our Anniversary, the local Whitstable Times newspaper published an article - From Prison Cell to Pulpit - an intriguing headline which referred to an incident in 1908 when the minister at the time caused no little concern by preaching on the street corner - and got arrested for his trouble! A full transcript of the case, as reported in the Canterbury Herald of 15th August 1908, may be seen here.
If you would like more information about any event, or about us, please dont hesitate to get in touch via our Contacts page.
The Weekly Notice Sheet is now available online so, if you miss a service and you want to know whats going on during the week, you can read our Weekly Notice Sheet here!
