Access Statement

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with disabilities, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our visitors.

We aim to be an 'inclusive' fellowship with a welcome for everyone. We have a step-free entrance from street to sanctuary. To the rear of the sanctuary are the main halls, other meeting rooms, kitchen and toilets – including a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities. There is a single step from the sanctuary to this area but there is an alternative route whereby all these rooms and facilities can also be accessed without having to negotiate any steps.

We don’t have a car park on site but there are a number of public car parks available in the town – two within 150yards/130metres. Free, on-street parking is often available nearby at certain times (but do remember that Whitstable is a popular place for visitors!) Blue Badge holders can usually park on the double yellow lines in Waterloo Road, next to the church. The bus stops are about 190yards/180metres away and Whitstable railway station is a bit further − about half a mile/800metres.

Seating in the sanctuary is in comfortable, upholstered chairs (we have still got the original plain wooden pews upstairs but they are not used much these days!)

The words of the hymns and songs that we sing are usually projected on a large screen but copies of the Mission Praise hymn book, including large print and music versions, are always available. We can also arrange for copies of the hymns to be available electronically, if visitors wish to use their own tablet/Smart Phone. We use the New International Version of the Bible and readings are also often projected. Again, copies are also available at each chair.

There is a loop system for the benefit of hearing aid users. Services are recorded and copies are available, on request, on tape, CD, or on datastick. They are also available to listen to at anytime or download from this website.

Assistance dogs are welcome and water can be provided upon request.

We have a wheelchair available for use for those who require it whilst visiting us and we can always make space for your own wheelchair.

Gluten free bread is usually available at Communion services.

Access for all.
